While the modern-day street samurai has an admittedly short life expectancy, they’re not to be trifled with and are typically the cause for every headline with a kill count.

Tracing back to its Japanese roots, a Ronin is a sword expert who have chosen to wander. No laws to abide by, excellent swordsmanship, a strict sense of honor, what could go wrong for these street samurai? Everything.
The path of a Ronin is a lonely one. Perhaps they once had a normal life, long ago. Regardless of the circumstance, they have begun to wander. While some Ronins enlist their services to corporations and fixers, a true Ronin has no master that they serve. Those who exploit their swordsmanship for personal gain are deemed sell-outs, for it takes the honor away from their kill. However, what was once a life with honor has quickly burned out as Ronins find themselves indebted towards certain parties. Remember, not all who wander are lost. |
// BUILDING A RONIN //
Why does your character know how to use a blade? Did you have your sword passed down to you by your parents, or did you acquire your weapons from a war long forgotten? These are questions that you must ask yourself as you choose to play a Ronin. Or perhaps, you've chosen to stick to one fixer or work for a corp. If so, why did you decide to settle down, an action that violates the free-wandering spirit of any wanderer?
Regardless of background, Ronins are an excellent choice for any mobile, frontline fighter. We recommend putting points into your Move action as it will be key to your survival. As you cut down your enemies, your feats will become the stuff of legends. Perhaps you'll be as formidable as Hattori Hanzo himself.

// SANGUIS DECIMAM //
As mercenaries and wanderers, Ronin have access to a special currency that few other classes have access to: Sanguis Decimam, "blood tithe" in Latin,, known to most as "Favors".
ORIGIN: After the war, many veterans and mercenaries were left out in the cold by society. Left to fend for themselves, a strange community was formed among Vanta City's deadliest DEAD DROPS: Dead Drops are dedicated terminals, secondary locations and dens hidden from polite society that mercs can use to network and trade favors. Sanguis Decimam is simply the method everyone uses to track these favors and one's social standing. It has no value outside the community, but within it its a measure of both how helpful you are to others, and your reputation. THE VALUE OF BLOOD MONEY: Nobody questions the value of Sanguis Decimam: for every target that a Ronin kills, one coin is earned. Some VIP's may grant more coins, but only if their life is worth more than someone else's. One Sanguis Decimam can be traded in for a favor, hence its street name. That favor can either range from getting a bullet-proof jacket to something as simple as a hot meal. |
